DONALIM
Donalim is a 100% male hybrid that is very suitable for growing green asparagus in warm/Mediterranean climate zones. Donalim is an early variety and high average weight asparagus.
Cultivation
Donalim grows best on fertile, well-drained soils. Our own trials for green asparagus production conducted over a series of years showed that the best results were achieved with a planting density of 25,000 – 32,000 plants per hectare with a planting depth of 20 – 25 cm. The highest planting density can be used in fields that can be irrigated or where drip fertigation is installed. Donalim is a 100% male hybrid, so it not only stands for a long and profitable production life, but it also produces no seedlings.
Products
Donalim has a very high production potential, yielding spears of an excellent thickness. It is an early variety producing asparagus of a good quality with tight tips, resulting in a high percentage of asparagus of class I. More than 75% of the uniform product will be in the diameter class above 12 mm. Donalim produces visually attractive, smooth spears.
Leaf stem
Donalim produces uniform, dark, very erect, vigorous foliage that is naturally resistant to lodging and foliage diseases and that remains green until well into autumn. These good foliage characteristics make Donalim very suitable for organic cultivation, too.
Seeds
All seed supplied by Limgroup is subjected to strict internal quality inspections to test germinating power and varietal purity. Before the seeds are supplied, they are inspected and tested again by Naktuinbouw, an independent inspection service regulated by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.
